Thanksgiving Week!

Is it just me or was the month of November a complete whirlwind?  I swear Halloween was last week and now we're a week into December?  What exactly is happening?!

Thanksgiving week was as relaxing and calm as it could have been, being smack dab in the middle of my sales quarter end.  Ryan's parents came into town and brought their turkey fryer with them.  There was lots of baking, decorating, sugar, tantrums and mimosas.

I stayed up late making pies the night before - apple for myself and pumpkin for everyone else.  Lyla couldn't wait for the pumpkin pie and Thanksgiving morning the first thing I heard were her tiny footprints running into our room and her yelling "Mommy!  Mommy!  It's SNOWING!!"  It was so cute because A) they slept in late enough that it was actually light outside, and B) I've never known her to look out her window before coming to wake me up.  That she happened to see the first real snow was just adorable.

As soon as her excitement wore off about the snow she remembered the pumpkin pie and asked for some for breakfast, jumping up and down.  If nothing else, the girl is enthusiastic.  :)  We ran downstairs and served up some pumpkin pie, followed by homemade pumpkin cinnamon rolls.

The boys went to the gym and fried a turkey, and the little girls "helped" every chance they got.  Which mostly meant sneaking as much cinnamon roll frosting as possible.  While everyone was busy the girls and I bundled up and played outside in the snow a bit.  It was the perfect heavy, wet kind of snow that sticks to everything and makes the best snow balls.

Our nanny, Joan, and her husband joined us for dinner, then we had a neighbor family over for pie.  It was such a fun day with a great crowd of family and friends.  Despite the fact that neither of our girls ate any of the Thanksgiving food and Everly had a major meltdown as soon as it was time to finally sit down and eat.  Little stinkers.

The rest of the weekend was spent getting out Christmas decorations, picking a Christmas tree, and putting up our Christmas lights.  So excited for the Christmas season - now I need to figure out how to slow the next 2+ weeks down...

Here's some photos from our Thanksgiving!
